Multi-spindle horizontal machining centers

Samag multi-spindle horizontal machining centers, used primarily for high-volume parts, are now available in North America for automotive powertrain, truck, and off-highway applications. Samag, based in Saalfeld, Germany, engineers and builds various multi-spindle machines such as the MFZ series for high volume cubic workpieces.

The company supplies complete turnkey solutions, including tooling, workholding, robotic articulation, parts handlers, and transfer mechanisms for high-production work such as knuckles, engine blocks, gear boxes, valves, and connecting rods.

Flexible X-, Y-, and Z-axis movement on the twin-spindle machine can be corrected independently. Four sizes and two types of drives offer options for high-speed machining and heavy-duty cutting. The number of spindles, variable distance between them, and extendable tool magazine allow machining of diverse workpiece dimensions and capacities.

All models are available with linear or ball screw drives and up to four spindles. Five-axis simultaneous machining and workpiece feed during primary processing is possible.
