AFLAS FEPM material grades support a new lamination technology for multi-layer hose constructions for high-pressure, high-temperature areas around vehicle engines – zones exposed to nitrogen oxide (NOx), sulfur oxide (SOx), engine oils, and other aggressive automotive fluids.
AFLAS FEPM fluoroelastomers can withstand continuous service temperatures up to 200°C and resist acids, bases, amines, and steam. Current FEPM material can be laminated directly to dissimilar elastomers, without a tie-layer or adhesive, to exceed 7N/in peel strength tests at elevated operating temperatures.

Lightweight radial shaft seal
Used on V-6 and V-8 pickup and SUV engines, the BlueSeal lightweight radial shaft seal is part of the low-emission sealing solution (LESS) portfolio of engine, transmission, and electric-mobility products. The seals lower weight, improve friction performance, and are easier to install than other models, lowering costs and emissions.
BlueSeal is 40% lighter than conventional radial shaft seals and requires 50% less space to install. Made of a single material – steel-reinforced polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) – the seal withstands harsh engine fluids. A low-friction power optimized polytetrafluoroethylene (POP) lip design ensures smaller dissipation loss, reduces the temperature in the contact area between the seal and shaft, and performs throughout various engine conditions.
Improved sealing and a higher resistance to pressure increases BlueSeal durability. R-Tight technology nearly eliminates air leaks during assembly tests, allowing manufacturers to isolate other potential leak paths in the system.
