Automation Studio is a single software development environment that unifies CNC, programmable logic control (PLC), human-machine interface (HMI), safety, I/O, robots, and safety systems. The standards-based design approach lets OEMs implement machine processes on the controller without need for intervention by the control supplier, streamlining engineering, hardware, and training and service.
The solution is scalable, allowing integration of hydraulics, steppers, servos, linear and rotary actuators, and pneumatics. The flexible design also makes it simple to integrate robotic control with CNC. Kinematics for SCARA, delta, articulated, portal, and gantry robots are supported. The onboard control eliminates the need for PLCs to perform auxiliary functions such as infeeds, outfeeds, conveyance, stackers, and de-stackers.

Machine tool integration
The Sinumerik 840D sl CNC’s Smart Operation feature allows machine tool work to be performed with greater flexibility and speed to boost productivity. The feature encompasses job preparation, IT networking, improved usability with touch operation, and mobile devices monitoring. The program simplifies the integration of machines into the production process without requiring IT support. Smart Operation encompasses: Smart Prepare, Smart Operate, Smart IT, and Smart Mobile.

The 8060 FL CNC is an update of the popular 8055 FL CNC, offering a compact CNC solution for traditional lathes and milling machine configurations. Standard features include a library of canned cycles for milling and turning. Compact flash expansion capability and two USB ports are available. A process informer feature can automatically text or notify the user of CNC conditions in a lights-out machining situation.
An offline simulator is offered with each 8060 FL. For fast initial machine integration, a programmable logic control (PLC) wizard tool allows for quick configuration the machine I/O.
